I get why!

So Many Online Marketing Shiney Objects

There is just so much information out there about how you should go about it. There is a whole plethora of tools and techniques you can potentially employ in Online Marketing.

But, in my opinion, the really big thing is that there are an army of hugely experienced and persuasive marketers all fighting for your marketing dollar. They are selling a huge varierty of products and use sophisticated sales letters to get you to part with your money. I call these “shiney objects”. Why? Simply because it is oh so easy to get seduced by them and buy stuff you just don’t need.

Now that’s all well and good, and I am all for people making money online.

The Problem With Internet Marketing

But, the problem is that 99% of these products only deal with one small facet of Internet Marketing. Facebook research, SEO, Paid Ads, Content, Video Marketing, eMail Marketing etc

Some of the products are excellent, but there is also an awful lot of crap out there! However, before you even consider any of these tactics and/or products, you MUST have the right infratsructure in place.

So, I’ve put together a mini course which shows you how to start an online business, or take an existing business online.

Do these basics first and you will be good to go, and have a far better understanding of what further techniques and tools best suit your model.

Today I’m talking eMail marketing. I did this video for one of my SEO clients as they were having trouble in their sales funnel and it transpired that they had no follow up emails and no email marketing structure whatsoever.

So, I made a quick video explaining to them some of the strategy behind email marketing and the sort of structure they should employ. This being in terms of the lists , tagging conventions and list movement conventions they should apply.

I did this because some of the Guys in the group were using Blogger for their Blogs or using platforms like Wix or GoDaddy. Some people also thought you needed to pay for WordPress. I also show you how to isntall WP for free. I did another post on this subject a while back which you can find here.

There was also a suggestion that Click Funnels could be used for a website platform. I’m not sure CF offers the functionality you’d need to build an effective blog. I talk a lot about plugins and the functionality they offer, a lot of which I do not believe is available on CF (as a website platform). If you are building funnels or membership sites, Click Funnels is definitely the place to be (see my review of Click Funnels here), bgut for your blog, wel…I’m a big WordPress fan.

So, here’s the video from last night. Inevitably in a mastermind group the subject matter does wander sometimes, but…in my humble opinion that makes it all the more interesting and of course adds some value for you too. Enjoy.

I made a video for the SMM Mastermind group on on-page SEO. I actually did a Zoom on Search Engine Optimisatioon and forgot to press the record button!

Anyway, I know SEO is seen as something of a dark art, but really the on-page aspects of it are really quite simple. So, here’s some pure content training regards on-page search engine optimisation and how to set up your website and specific webpages for best SEO effect.

The Rules For On-Page Search Optimisation?

• Subject specific
• Cover the subject in depth
• Make the content engaging
• Use rich media (words, video, images etc)

Adding a sub domain in Click Funnels

I was fortunate to do a Zoom call with David Cox a Click Funnels expert last week. In it he shows you how to add, verirfy and connect a sub domain to your account and to then use it in your funnels.

David has kindly agreed to let me share with my subscribers and customers. So a huge thank you to David for firstly sharing this information and secondly for allowing it to be published.

Click Funnels Still The Best

Now, whilst this particular part of Click Funnels is not the easiest functionality to use. It’s the same as anything…once you’ve done it a few times, it’s not that bad. And, you can always refer back to this training if needs be.

But the main point here is that, Click Funnels is the best Funnel Building Software around. It’s got years of experience and testing behind it, and it is drag and drop simple (for the most part).

And, since Russell Brunson made the ultimate commitment to Click Funnels by stating they will be moving away from the ancilliary products they had been developing to focus solely on Click Funnels, it is getting even better. In my opinion it did need to be sped up a little and I can see that happening.

It is definitely the best of breed, and if you are serious about building an online business, you simply do need Click Funnels.

Just as an aside I met David on Paul’s Mastermind, and I mentioned in another video we have built our own support / mastermind group. This is something I really encourage you to do as well. It will offer, support, help a meeting of minds and an exchange of skills.

Today I’m talking about haters, naysers and trolls in the online marketing world.

It’s a sad fact of modern that there are haters and trolls in virtually every walk of life. I think it’s become endemic in the society in which we live. Our society has become transfixed with instant gratification and entitlement. People feel they are entitled to everything and that includes an opinion, no matter how valid (or otherwise) that opinion might be.

Modern Life In General

People who stick their head above the parapet” have become targets for these people who think it’s O.K to dsay what they want about successful people not matter what that might be.

We are seeing institutionalised racism here in nthe U.K particularly in sport. I find it sad that elite sportsmen are subject to racial slurs that belong in the dark ages.

However, it’s also part of life as an Online Marketer, and something I deal with on a daily basis. Here are a couple of videos I made on the subject. The second one covers a unique way of dealing with the haters!

I’ve now been a member of Paul O’Mahony’s Mastermind Group for over a year. I have to say, it’s been great for my business. You can read my review of the group here, or have a sneak peek inside by clicking here.

One of the other benefits to come from the Group is an offshoot group that I am a member of. It’s called the Digital Marketing Mastermind Group and consists of 15 online marketers who all met through Paul’s group.

The new group now has a weekly meeting on a Monday evening where we take it in turns to “show and tell” the group one of our areas of expertise. Last nitght it was my turn so I talked about keyword research and Google. I takled generally about SEO and the algorithm and also a little bit of detail about the new Google BERT algorithm update.

P.P.S – Don’t try and fine the Keyword Cash Loophole as it’s now out of date and I have taken it down. I wasa thinking of doing an updated version, but in doing a little bit of research for last night’s webby, I realised that a lot has changed in four years and many of the techniques, while still valuable, do not have the same impact as they once did.

The main application nowadays is for finding cheaper PPC keywords.

Crucial To Understand Your Customer

It’s absolutely crucial to truly understand your target customer…in detail. Let’s face it, it’s like the Cheshire Cat asking Alice where she wanted to go when she was lost. “I don’t much care” replied Alice.

“In that case” the Cheshire Cat said, “it matters not which road you take”. And so it is with your customers. If you don’t know who they are and what their inspriations are, then you will NOT be able to target them with effective marketing messages and advertising.

The major “takeouts” are as follows:-

• Assumptions cost you money
• You MUST understand your ideal customer (avatar), in detail
• If you don’t understand your customer you can’t give them the right messages
• Get “into the head” of your avatar
• Talk to them on their terms
• Use their language

You Must Complete This Step

I put this in the PDF report as a mistake becuase it IS a mistake, a big one, and one that cost me a huge amount of money.

That’s not just in terms of wasted ad spend, but in terms of wasted time and lost opportunity cost. In other words all the sales and income I lost because I was too stuck in my ways to implement something I was being told was necessary.

Working out your avatar in detail is one of the major columns of your online business. Get it right and it will continue to support and bring income into your business for years to come.
